PREVIEW: @DuqWBB vs. Saint Francis

PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne women's basketball looks to keep its win streak alive on Sunday afternoon, when the Dukes (8-2) host Western Pennsylvania foe Saint Francis University at La Roche University at 2:00 p.m. Duquesne seeks its ninth consecutive win on the season against the Red Flash (2-6), which would be the Dukes' longest unbeaten streak since the Dukes reeled off a program-record 15-game win streak during the 2015-16 season.

THE SERIES: The Dukes have dominated the Red Flash in the all-time series, owning a 26-6 mark against their opponent from Loretto. Duquesne has won nine consecutive matchups against Saint Francis, including last season's 93-73 victory over the Red Flash at DeGol Arena. Overall, the Dukes are 40-14 against the Northeast Conference and look to extend its win streak to 18-straight against the NEC. Duquesne defeated NEC member Central Connecticut State, 72-33 earlier this season on Nov. 26.

LAST TIME OUT:  Paced by a career-game from Libby Bazelak, the Duquesne women's basketball team earned its eight consecutive victory this season against Cornell, 72-62, on Tuesday night at Newman Arena. The Dukes' (8-2) eight consecutive wins matches its longest unbeaten streak since the Dukes rallied off eight wins twice in the 2017-18 season. Bazelak matched her career-high of 21 points, grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds, distributed six assists, earned five steals to lead the Dukes in all four categories.  She also tallied a block, which tied for the team-best. The junior knocked down 4-of-7 shots from the field, including 3-of-5 from long range and went a very impressive 10-of-12 from the foul line. The Kettering, Ohio native turned the ball over just twice in 39 minutes of action. She surpassed 500 career-point milestone in the win.

ROAD WARRIORS: Winners of six-consecutive on the road, the Dukes are among the top teams in the nation when playing on an opponent's floor. Duquesne's five road wins is tied for nation lead in Division I (351 teams) with Loyola Chicago (6-0) and Cleveland State (6-1) lead the nation. The Dukes are averaging 76.9 points per game on the road, while holding the opposition to 68 points.

THE STREAK: After falling to Kent State and Temple to begin the season, the Dukes have reeled off eight consecutive victories in eight different gyms against Manhattan, Iona, Lafayette, Pitt, Central Connecticut State, Akron and Toledo and Cornell. The Dukes have sported a balanced offense over the past eight games with seven different players averaging between 7.0 points to 14.1 points per contest. The Dukes have defeated its foes by an average of 14.9 points per game in that span. The Dukes have held the opposition to shoot just 38.4 percent from the field and 26.3 percent from long range. Duquesne's eight game win-streak is tied with UConn, Loyola Chicago, Cleveland State, Standford, UCLA, Minnesota, Oregon State, Kansas and North Carolina for the seventh-longest win streak in the country.

STAT CHECK:  The Dukes currently lead the A-10 in assists per game (15.9), free throw attempts (210), free throws made (142) and scoring offense (76.4). Libby Bazelak leads the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (50 percent) and is ranked 12th in the country in that category. Amanda Kalin leads the A-10 in free throw attempts (51). Duquesne has three of the top-six players in the conference in assists per game (Kalin - 4.3, Bazelak - 4.0, Aho - 3.9)

BALANCE: The Dukes have sported a balanced offense all season, as seven different Dukes average at least 7.4 points per game. Five different Dukes have recorded 20-plus points in a game this season, as Angela Staffileno (21 pts at Manhattan), Libby Bazelak (21 pts at Manhattan, 21 at Cornell) Laia Solé (21 pts vs. CCCU), and Amanda Kalin (20 pts vs. Toledo) all reached the 20-point milestone for career-highs.

SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS:  The Red Flash enter Sunday's contest with a 2-6 record, falling to Youngtown State, 56-46, in its most recent contest on Dec. 7 in Loretto. First-year head coach Keila Whittington comes to Saint Francis with stops as an assistant coach at Marist (2016-19, 2007-09),  Memphis (2012-13), Oregon, Penn State and South Alabama and Indiana, Rhode Island and Delaware. Karson Swogger leads the team in points (11.3), assists (2.9) and 3-pointers (13, 1.6 per game). The Red Flash average 52 points per game while allowing 75.1 per contest. This season, Saint Francis earned a neutral-site victory against Stetson (78-73) at Morehead State and a double-overtime thriller against Vermont (73-69) in Burlington.
