LAST TIME OUT: Duquesne took down another MAAC team from New York, Manhattan, 76-65, last Sunday.  The Dukes were led by career-best performances from Libby Bazelak and Angela Staffileno, the Duquesne Dukes picked up its first win of the season. The Dukes gained separation by outscoring the Jaspers, 17-6, in the third quarter, which helped pad the lead when the Manhattan strung together a late-rally attempt in the fourth quarter. Bazelak and Staffileno led the Dukes with 21 points. Bazelak made 6-of-9 shots from the field, including 4-of-6 from long range. From the charity stripe, the Kettering, Ohio native converted 7-of-8 attempts. Staffileno connected on half of her six attempts from 3-point land. She sunk 6-of-7 shots from the line, as she topped her previous high of 14 points against Maryland Eastern Shore in 2015. Amanda Kalin also reached double-figures for the Dukes, as the junior added 12 points and distributed a career-high seven assists against the Jaspers.

SCOUTING IONA: The Gaels overcame a 13-point deficit to earn a 68-61 win in its lone game of the season on Nov. 9 over Winthrop on the road. Shyan Mwai led the squad with 22 points, while Morgan Rachu totaled 21 points, as both guards connected on six 3-pointers in the victory. Iona got off to a slow start, but scored 46 of its 68 points in the second half. Iona was tabbed ninth of 11 squads in the MAAC preseason poll.
