Box Score BLACKSBURG, Va. – Highlighted by a doubles win over Virginia Tech, the Duquesne women's tennis wrapped up the fall season at the ITA Atlantic Regionals this past weekend.
Meredith Lee and
Priyanka Mitta defeated the host Hokie team of Clark/Disbergen (8-5) to advance to the round of 32. Lee and Mitta fought hard, but were eventually defeated by #5 seed Munera and O'Dell of Virginia, by a score of 8-6.
"This doubles team has found their game style and confidence and proved they can compete with the top in the nation," said Duquesne director of tennis
Vanessa Steiner. "They will continue to improve on small details and execution so that they will start winning these battles."
Laurel Shymansky (Singles Main & Doubles),
Miranda Bishard (Singles Qualifying), and
Daniela Latoni (Doubles/Extra matches) also competed on the weekend.
Latoni earned a singles match victory against Oleksandra Doroshenko of Temple. Down a set, Latoni won 10-2 in the third-set breaker.
