No. 20 Duquesne went 6-3 in finishing second in a 16-team field at the Mount Shootout in Frederick Md. over the weekend. DU went 3-2 in traditional matches, 2-0 in a pair of baker quint matches and 1-1 in the championship round.
Duquesne went 3-2 with a 182.2 average to finish second in Saturday's qualifying. Freshman
Crystal Elliott was third in the individual standings with a 204.20 average in earning a spot in the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore
Jessica Cadez, who posted three 200-plus games, was ninth with a 191.00 average.
On Sunday, the Dukes posted baker wins over Daemen (956-859) and Wilmington, Del. (996-994) to qualify as the No. 2 seed in the Championship bracket. DU defeated No. 15 Delaware State 4-3, before falling to top seed No. 23 Youngstown State, 4-3, in the title match.
Duquesne, which is 15-4 on the young season, is idle until heading to Houston, Texas for the Track Kat Klash which opens Fri., Nov. 1 at Emerald Lanes.
