Box Score CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Facing tough competition, the Duquesne men's tennis team posted four wins at the ITA Atlantic Regional championships over the weekend. The regionals were hosted by the University of Virginia, and featured 256 players in the singles main draw and 64-team doubles draw from 23 different schools.
In singles play,
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal posted a 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4 victory against Georgetown's Harry Yang in the opening round. The junior could not advance any further, as Delaware's James Wilkinson (6-1, 5-7, 6-2) earned a win in the following round.
Competitors that fell in the first round were eligible to compete in a consolation round, as
Alex Mascioli picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Navy's Christian Pumpelly.
Jared Isaacs also earned a win in the consolation draw, taking down Rithik Saradana of George Mason (6-3, 6-4).
In the doubles main draw, Mascioli and Isaacs advanced to the second round by defeating Lee/Sharton of Georgetown (8-4). The duo could not come with a win in the round of 32, falling to Radford's Sirous/Magalhaes (9-7).
The Dukes close out the fall season the weekend of Nov. 1 to Nov. 3 at the Cleveland State Invite.
