MEET NOTES
- The Duquesne track and field teams are set to take part in the 2018 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by George Mason this weekend in Fairfax, Va.

- The DU women placed second at the 2017 A-10 Outdoor Championship, claiming 11 medals overall. The second-place finish was the highest for the Dukes since also placing second in 2014 and in 2005. Victoria Soeder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) earned silver in the 100-meter hurdles and bronze in the long jump while Shannon Taub (Philadelphia, Pa./Council Rock) collected silver in the high jump. In addition, the Dukes' 4x800-meter relay team of Hannah Gilliam (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham), Maiah Yankello (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley), Taylor Pletz (North East, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and Annegret Nehl (Saarbrücken, Germany/Gymnasium am Rotenbühl) picked up a bronze medal in the event, as well.

- The men's team posted a sixth-place finish at the 2017 A-10 Outdoor Championship, recording three medal-winning performances, including Rico Galassi (Dickson City, Pa./Holy Cross) in the 5000-meter run and the 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Stephen Zarycranski (King of Prussia, Pa./Church Farm School), Jonathant Istache (Belle Glade, Fla./Glades Central), Mohamed Cisse (Largo, Md./Largo) and Nehari Crawford (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Central).

- On the men's side, Rhode Island has won three of the last five A-10 titles, including the 2017 championship. George Mason won its third women's A-10 crown in four seasons last year.

- Duquesne freshman Harvey Kane (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors this week after pacing the long jump on Saturday with a mark of 7.07 meters at last Saturday's Red Flash Open at St. Francis (Pa.), a personal record which also broke the Father Bede Track facility record as well as the meet record. This marked the third straight week in which a DU athlete claimed the award after fellow freshman Isaac Elliott (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge) was named A-10 Rookie of the Week in consecutive weeks on April 17 & 24.

- Heading into this weekend's championship, the Dukes have several top-five marks in the A-10 this season including:
• Isaac Elliott - second in the 100 meter (10.62) and third in the 200 meter (21.41)
• David O'Such (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) - fourth in the 400 meter (47.74)
• Rico Galassi - fourth in the 5000 meter (14:17.53)
• Jenny DelSignore (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) - fourth in the 5000 meter (16:41.23)
• Preston Hogue (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) - fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (54.05)
• Maiah Yankello - fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.33)
• Andrew George (Louisville, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas), Robert Norman (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), David O'Such, Isaac Elliott - third in the 4x100-meter relay (41.23)
• Isaac Elliott, David O'Such, Preston Hogue, Kenny Baurle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) - fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:13.65)
• Shannon Taub and Maris Seto (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) - tied for fourth in the high jump (1.70 meters)
• Harvey Kane - tied for fifth in the long jump (7.07 meters)
• Maris Seto - tied for fourth in the long jump (5.65 meters)
• Alex Long (Waymart, Pa./Western Wayne) - third in the triple jump (14.70 meters)

- The Dukes will travel to Princeton, N.J. for the 2018 ECAC Championship on May 11-12.
