PREVIEW: @DuqMSoccer vs. #23 Rhode Island

Nationally ranked Rams visit Saturday at 7pm on Senior Day

Duquesne (3-7-3, 1-2-2), coming off a 0-0 draw at Saint Louis, returns home to face No. 23 Rhode Island (10-2, 4-1) on Senior Day Saturday night at 7:00 (ET). Final year players Peace Drevitch, Olav Hovstad, Ian Larson, Noah Mehta and Austin Stout will all be recognized in a pregame ceremony.

THE SERIES VS. RHODE ISLAND
  • URI, winner of four in a row, enters the game ranked #23 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
  • The Rams are currently third in the A-10 with a 4-1 record (12 points) behind 4-0-1 Davidson and VCU. The Dukes, who have a win and draw in their past two matches, are currently tied for ninth with 5 points.
  • Rhode Island leads the series 16-7. The Rams have won nine of the past 11 meetings.
  • In matches in Pittsburgh, the Dukes lead 5-4.
  • URI has won the past four between the two. DU's last series win was on Nov. 3, 2013 in Kingston, R.I. (3-1).

  • DU is 1-0-1 in its past two matches, a 3-0 home win over George Mason and a 0-0 draw at Saint Louis. The tie at SLU was DU's first point earned in 11 all-time matches with the Billikens. Duquesne ended a 14-match road winless streak with its 3-0 victory at Mason.
  • Junior goalkeeper Robbie McKelvey has posted back-to-back shutouts for the Dukes (200 minutes). The last opponent goal was by Fordham in the 95th minute on Oct. 10 (2-1 defeat).

Of the nine freshmen who have started, seven are international players.
  • Overall, DU has 10 international players, including returners seniors Noah Mehta (Canada) and Olav Hovstad (Norway).
