From The Pitch
 
- The Duquesne University men's soccer team opens a three-game road trip Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. by returning to non-conference action in Morgantown, W.Va., against West Virginia at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
 
- In their first action in two weeks, the Dukes opened their Atlantic 10 schedule with a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island (9/19) at Rooney Field. Duquesne garnered the only score of the contest early in the second half when Tyler Kato collected his first goal of the campaign at 48:18.
 
- Redshirt senior goalkeeper Sam Coss preserved the shutout in the win over the Rams by matching a career high with six saves, including one at point-blank range with under two minutes to play. Coss has yet to allow a goal in four games this season at Rooney Field.
 
- The win improved the Dukes to 4-0-2 (.833) for the second consecutive season and also gave head coach Chase Brooks his 100th career victory on the Bluff.
 
- In their last road contest, Duquesne earned a 2-1 victory at Detroit Mercy (9/5). Senior forward Cody Da gave Duquesne the lead late in the first half, scoring his second goal of the season on an assist from Ofek Sasson.
 
- Sophomore Alex Posada scored his first goal of the season early in the second half at Detroit Mercy to push the lead for the Dukes to 2-0. The marker from Posada proved to be the game-winning goal.
 
- Duquesne opened the 2025 campaign with a record of 5-0-2 (.857) as well as the 2022 season at 6-0-2 (.875) before suffering its first loss of the season, respectively, both of which were against ranked opponents.
 
- Redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin is the active leading scorer at Duquesne with 26 points courtesy of eight goals and 10 assists. He has started 39 of his 49 career games on the Bluff over the last four seasons.
 
- The Dukes are led by head coach Chase Brooks, who is in his 14th season leading the program in 2026. Brooks has compiled an overall record of 100-93-31 (.516) at Duquesne and is the program's all-time leader in coaching victories. In his 16th year as a head coach overall, Brooks has posted a mark of 122-99-40 (.544).
 
- Duquesne established a new program record with 11 consecutive wins at Rooney Field over the course of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, while its eight victories at home in 2024 is a school record. The Dukes own a mark of 34-6-7 (.798) at Rooney Field since the beginning of the 2021 campaign.
 
- Duquesne returns to Atlantic 10 play after taking on the Mountaineers, visiting Saint Louis Saturday, Sept. 26, for a 7:30 p.m. start.
 
Scouting the Mountaineers – Located in Morgantown, W.Va. … Member of the Sun Belt Conference in men's soccer … Tuesday's game wraps up a five-game homestand for WVU at Dick Dlesk Stadium … A 1-0 triumph over Georgia State (9/17) in their conference opener improved the Mountaineers to 4-1-1 during the 2026 campaign … The only goal in the contest against Georgia State was an own goal at 80:10 … Senior forward Pablo Pozos has started all six matches and leads WVU in scoring with 10 points thanks to four goals and two assists … Pozos owns 19 shots (3.17 per game), 12 of which have been on frame … In his seventh season as head coach of the Mountaineers is Dan Stratford (West Virginia '09), who owns a record of 72-24-26 (.697) during his tenure … Duquesne and West Virginia meet on the pitch for the 10th time Tuesday but for the first time in 12 years … The Mountaineers lead the all-time series, 6-1-2 (.778) … The last meeting between the two programs saw WVU earn a 3-0 victory Oct. 5, 2014, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium … The lone win for the Dukes in the series was a 3-0 triumph at Rooney Field Sept. 6, 2000.
 
Level Up – Senior midfielder Tyler Kato has battled injury early during the 2026 campaign but came through for the Dukes in their Atlantic 10 opener, collecting his first goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island (9/19) at Rooney Field. He took a low cross from redshirt junior Chris Philibin and was able to find the back of the net for the first time this year as well as the second time since the beginning of last season. Despite the program's active leader in scoring, redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin, having yet to score a goal this season, Duquesne has had five different student-athletes convert this year. The Dukes have also had 13 different players register on the scoresheet through six games. The aforementioned Ervin owns a pair of assists along with junior midfielder Miles Imparato, who earned the secondary assist on Kato's goal against the Rams.
 
All In The Family – Looking to add to the lineage as a scorer on the Bluff has been forward Cody Da, who picked up his second goal of the young season in a 2-1 victory at Detroit Mercy (9/5). Da is the younger brother of former forward Jayden Da (2021-23), who in three seasons with the Dukes compiled 20 career points thanks to eight goals and four assists. The elder Da appeared in 46 career matches at Duquesne and was named to the 2023 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team after a campaign in which he finished with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Jayden Da was also the first student-athlete in program history to be selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft, presented by Adidas, when he was selected by the Columbus Crew with the 29th pick in 2023. 
 
Tip of the Cap – Thanks to the performances for Duquesne in its first two games of the year, a pair of student-athletes garnered weekly honors from the Atlantic 10. Junior forward Marko Rasmussen was selected as A-10 Offensive Player of the Week (8/24), while redshirt senior goalkeeper Sam Coss was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week (8/24). Rasmussen scored a pair of goals in the win over Bowling Green (8/23) after entering this season with two goals in 26 career games on the Bluff. Coss, meanwhile, earned a pair of clean sheets in the first two games of the year, becoming the first Duquesne goalkeeper to turn the trick since 2022. Coss owns 21 saves through the first six games of 2026 after matching a career high with six in the win over URI at Rooney Field.
 
Reserve Spark – In returning four of its top five scorers from last year, junior forward Roni Badler was a key contributor for the Dukes, mostly as a reserve. He played in 11 contests a year ago, including one start, and tied for second on the squad in goals (4) while ranking third in points (8). Owning one of the more lethal strikes in the lineup, 52.4 percent (11-of-21) of Badler's shots during the year were on frame. He led Duquesne in shots on goal and was one of seven players to produce a game-winning goal throughout the season. Badler has played 21 career games on the Bluff and owns five goals on 14 shots on net, including a pair of game winners.
 
One – Since the beginning of the 2021 campaign, the Dukes own a record of 35-13 (.729) in one-goal matches. Included in that stretch is a 20-5 (.800) record in such games at Rooney Field and a 15-8 (.652) mark on the road.
