From The Pitch
 
- The Duquesne University men's soccer team returns to action after two weeks by opening Atlantic 10 play Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against Rhode Island at Rooney Field.
 
- The Dukes are coming off a 2-1 victory at Detroit Mercy (9/5) to stay unbeaten through their first five games for the third consecutive year and fourth time in the last five seasons.
 
- In the win over the Titans, senior forward Cody Da gave Duquesne the lead late in the first half, scoring his second goal of the season on an assist from Ofek Sasson. In the second half, sophomore Alex Posada scored his first goal of the season to push the lead for the Dukes to 2-0. The marker from Posada proved to be the game-winning goal.
 
- Duquesne opened the 2005 campaign with a record of 5-0-2 (.857) as well as the 2022 season at 6-0-2 (.875) before suffering its first loss of the season, respectively, both of which were against ranked opponents. The Dukes also opened 2024 with a record of 4-0-1 (.900), including a tie at No. 23 Notre Dame, before dropping a decision.
 
- The Dukes opened a two-game road swing with a 1-1 draw at Robert Morris (8/30). Less than three minutes into the contest, junior Marko Rasmussen gave Duquesne a 1-0 advantage with his third goal of the year. The Colonials would secure the equalizer early in the second half.
 
- The Dukes wrapped up an unbeaten homestand prior to their tie at RMU, posting a 2-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's (8/27).
 
- Senior Cody Da scored the first goal of the contest in the win over the Mount, collecting his first career strike on the Bluff at 58:05 to give Duquesne the lead. Redshirt sophomore Jameson Michel would seal the triumph late, taking a feed from redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin and finding the back of the net at 89:38.
 
- Redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin is the active leading scorer at Duquesne with 26 points courtesy of eight goals and 10 assists. He has started 38 of his 48 career games on the Bluff over the last four seasons.
 
- The Dukes are led by head coach Chase Brooks, who is in his 14th season leading the program in 2026. Brooks has compiled an overall record of 99-93-31 (.513) at Duquesne and is the program's all-time leader in coaching victories. In his 16th year as a head coach overall, Brooks has posted a mark of 121-99-40 (.542).
 
- Duquesne established a new program record with 11 consecutive wins at Rooney Field over the course of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, while its eight victories at home in 2024 is a school record. The Dukes own a mark of 33-6-7 (.793) at Rooney Field since the beginning of the 2021 campaign.
 
Scouting the Rams – Located in Kingston, R.I. … URI enters the 2026 Atlantic 10 opener with an overall record of 2-5-0 (.286) and is coming off a 2-1 loss at Brown (9/15) … Saturday's conference opener marks the fourth of five consecutive games on the road for Rhode Island … Junior forward Theo Harris leads URI in scoring with seven points courtesy of three goals and an assist … In his 14th season as head coach of the Rams is Gareth Elliott (Rhode Island '02), who owns an overall record of 150-130-44 (.531), including a mark of 108-90-35 (.539) at URI … Saturday marks the 28th meeting in the all-time series between Duquesne and Rhode Island, with the Rams leading, 17-10 (.630) … Last season, URI earned a 6-1 triumph over the Dukes in Kingston, R.I., which snapped a three-game winning streak in the all-time series for Duquesne.
 
All In The Family – Looking to add to the lineage as a scorer on the Bluff has been forward Cody Da, who picked up his second goal of the young season in a 2-1 victory at Detroit Mercy (9/5). Da is the younger brother of former forward Jayden Da (2021-23), who in three seasons with the Dukes compiled 20 career points thanks to eight goals and four assists. The elder Da appeared in 46 career matches at Duquesne and was named to the 2023 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team after a campaign in which he finished with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Jayden Da was also the first student-athlete in program history to be selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft, presented by Adidas, when he was selected by the Columbus Crew with the 29th pick in 2023. Cody Da, meanwhile, is one of four Dukes that have scored a goal through five games in 2026 as well as one of 11 student-athletes that has registered on the scoresheet.
 
Tip of the Cap – Thanks to the performances for Duquesne in its first two games of the year, a pair of student-athletes garnered weekly honors from the Atlantic 10. Junior forward Marko Rasmussen was selected as A-10 Offensive Player of the Week, while redshirt senior goalkeeper Sam Coss was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. Rasmussen scored a pair of goals in the win over Bowling Green (8/23) after entering this season with two goals in 26 career games on the Bluff. Coss, meanwhile, earned a pair of clean sheets in the first two games of the year, becoming the first Duquesne goalkeeper to turn the trick since 2022. Coss owns 14 saves through the first four games of 2026 after a career-high six at Robert Morris.
 
Reserve Spark – In returning four of its top five scorers from last year, junior forward Roni Badler was a key contributor for the Dukes, mostly as a reserve. He played in 11 contests a year ago, including one start, and tied for second on the squad in goals (4) while ranking third in points (8). Owning one of the more lethal strikes in the lineup, 52.4 percent (11-of-21) of Badler's shots during the year were on frame. He led Duquesne in shots on goal and was one of seven players to produce a game-winning goal throughout the season. Badler has played 19 career games on the Bluff and owns five goals on 14 shots on net, including a pair of game winners.
 
One – Since the beginning of the 2021 campaign, the Dukes own a record of 34-13 (.723) in one-goal matches. Included in that stretch is a 19-5 (.792) record in such games at Rooney Field and a 15-8 (.652) mark on the road.
