QUICK RECAP:
The Duquesne women's tennis team participated in the Vartabedian Invite hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center over the weekend, competing in 16 total matches.

The Dukes took on Pittsburgh and Morgan State in individual matches, falling to Pitt (1-6, 0-3) on Friday afternoon and defeating Morgan State (5-0, 0-2) on Sunday morning. Results from this weekend will not count toward the team's overall record.

Duquesne went 1-6 in singles matches against Pitt, with Aishwarya Kona defeating Pitt's Kayla Price in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-0) in the fourth match. The Dukes finished 0-3 in doubles matches against the Panthers.

The Dukes would go on to dominate in singles competition on Sunday against Morgan State, finishing 5-0.

Megan Wasson (6-4, 6-4), Zuzanna Stelmaszak (6-2, 7-5), Laurel Shymansky (6-2, 6-0), Kona (6-0, 4-6, 6-4) and Ally Miller (6-4, 6-2) recorded wins in singles matches over the Bears.

Morgan State took both doubles matches howevever, with 7-5 and 6-3 victories.

UP NEXT: The Dukes host Cleveland State on Friday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center.
