PITTSBURGH - The winningest class in program history -- April Robinson, Deva'Nyar Workman and Emilie Gronas - led the Duquesne women's basketball team to a 74-49 victory on Senior Night over La Salle on Wednesday.

The Dukes (25-3, 13-2 A-10) set program records in total and Atlantic 10 victories tonight. The victory also mean Duquesne will own at least a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season title.

Kadri-Ann Lass led all scorers with 18 points. Robinson scored 16 and had a game-high six assists. Amadea Szamosi recorded a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

La Salle (5-23, 2-13 A-10) was led by Amy Griffin with 13 points.

Duquesne led from the 5:14 mark of the 1st quarter on. Robinson scored eight points -- including a pair of 3-pointers -- in the quarter. Szamosi's layup closed out the scoring and put the Dukes ahead 17-10.

Two consecutive baskets from La Salle at the start of 2nd quarter would bring the Explorers within three points, 17-14 at the 7:59 mark. This would be as close as they would come the rest of the game. Duquesne got the first double-digit lead of the game at 31-19 with 1:36 remaining in the half on a 3-pointer by Gronas. Duquesne would go into the half with a 32-21 advantage.

Duquesne maintained control of the game during the 3rd quarter, outscoring La Salle 22-17, bringing the score to 54-38 heading into the 4th quarter.

Duquesne got its first 20 point lead with 6:51 remaining. In the 4th quarter when Robinson's 3-pointer made the score 60-40. The largest lead of the game for the Dukes at 27 points, came in the final minute of 4th quarter, on a layup by Angela Staffileno.

The Dukes outrebounded the Explorers 50-31 and assisted on 20 of their 24 baskets. Duquesne added 21 second change points and 25 points off of 16 La Salle turnovers.

The final regular season contest will be in Olean, N.Y. when the Dukes visit long-time rival St. Bonaventure (22-6, 11-4 A-10). The Dukes and Bonnies play on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

  • Coming into tonight's game, Griffin was the A-10's leading scorer (18.2 ppg), she finished with 13
