QUICK RECAP: Mallory Hromatko scored in 97th minute giving Cal Santa Barbara a 2-1 overtime victory over the Duquesne women's soccer team on Friday night at Rooney Field.
UCSB had several scoring chances in the 1st half. In the 2nd minute, Jessica Parque was stopped at point blank range by Kyra Murphy after a Duquesne turnover deep in the zone. In the 6th minute, Ryan Kokoska sent a cross over on the left side to Sara Feder, but the ball was picked off by a jumping Murphy. Dakota Griggs had a chance in the 20th minute, as she took the ball east to west along 15 yard line, but was stopped by a diving Murphy.
The Dukes' scoring chance came in the 30th minute when Linnea Faccenda found a breaking Danya Fenech, but Gauchos keeper Jacq Cagina made a diving stop.
Duquesne had the first scoring chance of the 2nd half, when Katie O'Connor's shot from the 10 yard line on the right side was just wide of the left side in the 59th minute. On the ensuing possession, UCSB's Parque had a shot that was inches above the cross bar.
In the 85th minute, Malea Fabean found the ball in a scrum and found the back of the net to give the Dukes a 1-0 lead. However, 47 seconds later Chace Schornstein chipped the ball past Murphy off a direct kick from Griggs after a yellow card was called on Faccenda.
In the extra period, Griggs' shot in the 95th minute rang off the cross bar before Hromatko's shot from the left side went in the net.
