PITTSBURGH - Deva'Nyar Workman tied a career-high 24 points to lead the Duquesne women's basketball team to its program-tying 10th straight victory and 17th consecutive home win after their 76-57 win over #25/RV St. John's on Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, Duquesne improves to 11-1 and St. John's falls to 8-2.

April Robinson scored 15 points and added 11 assists. Amadea Szamosi recorded a double-double of 12 points and an 11 rebounds.

SJU's Jade Walker scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench.

The first quarter went back and forth with five ties and nine lead changes. Chassidy Omogrosso, who had six points in the quarter, hit a pair of foul shots with six seconds remaining put the Dukes up 18-17.

The Red Storm scored the first five points of the 2nd quarter before a long jumper by Robinson and a 3-pointer from Omogrosso put Duquesne ahead 23-22. A layup by Imani Liddleton followed, but was answered by a Robinson and-1 to make the score 26-24 with 5:47 remaining. Three more lead changes would occur as Walker's layup put St. John's ahead 30-29 heading into the media timeout. The Red Storm would hold the lead heading into halftime 33-30.

St. John's would take a 6-point lead early in the 3rd quarter before a jumper from Szamosi followed by a steal and coast-to-coast layup from Emilie Gronas made the score 36-34 at the 8:10 mark. A Robinson fade-away at 5:29 tied the game at 38-38. The Dukes would regain the lead on a Gronas 3-pointer 38 seconds later that made the score 41-40. Duquesne's lead would reach six points after Robinson's jumper with 2:49 left, putting the Dukes up 48-42. A Workman layup with 26 seconds remaining closed out the 3rd quarter scoring with the Dukes leading 52-44.

Szamosi's putback off a Robinson miss early in the 4th quarter gave Duquesne its first double-digit lead at 58-48. The Dukes stretched the lead to 14 points at the midway point on a Workman 3-pointer that made the score 64-50. Duquesne's would get as high as 21 points on Workman's third 3-pointer of the game that made the score 74-53.

The Dukes defense held the backcourt of Aliyyah Handford and Danaejah Grant to 19 points. The duo averaged 40 combined points per game.

After shooting 31 percent in the 1st half, the Dukes made 55.2 percent of their shots in the 2nd half. The Dukes had 21 fast break points to the Red Storm's eight.

This is the first victory over a nationally ranked team since Dec. 20, 2012 when the Dukes defeated #24/20 West Virginia 62-54 in Morgantown. The last win over a ranked team at the Palumbo Center was Nov. 14, 2012 when Duquesne beat #17/17 Delaware 51-47.

After Christmas break, Duquesne will visit the University of Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center on Dec. 30th. Tipoff time between the Dukes and Panthers will be 2:00 p.m. Last season, Duquesne was an 87-77 winner at the Palumbo Center.
