Nov. 4, 2015 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne's Caroline Lacy, Katie O'Connor and Kyra Murphy were all named to the Atlantic 10 Conference's Women's Soccer All-Conference teams as announced by the league office today.
Lacy, a senior midfielder who is also one of the Dukes' captains, was named to the All-Academic team. She had a GPA of 3.92 and has been a constant fixture on the Dean's List, Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Director of Athletics' Honor Roll. She is also a finalist for the CoSIDA Academic All-America District 2 Team.
O'Connor was named to the All-Rookie team. The freshman forward recorded a team-high 22 points (8 goals, 6 assists) this season. This is the most points for a Duquesne player since Lauren Bracco scored 21 in 2003. The 22 points is the most-ever points for a freshman and is 3rd most single-season total in program history. She also scored four game-winners, tying the second-most in program history. O'Connor was named to the Steel City Classic All-Tournament Team in the first week of the season.
Joining O'Connor on the All-Rookie Team is Murphy. The keeper tied the freshman program record for most wins this season with eight. This is the most among frosh keepers since Kelly O'Neill also had eight in 1995. Her five shutouts also tied the freshman record with Gabby Morrin in 2007.
The Dukes (10-9-0, 5-5-0) are the #7 seed and will play #2 seed Dayton in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday. Kickoff is at 5:00 p.m.
