QUICK RECAP: Duquesne got goals from Mamadou Traore, Fredrik Borenstein and Nick DiSomma and sharp goalkeeping from back-up Evan Kozlowski to keep its home record unblemished in a 3-0 win over Buffalo on Rooney Field. The Dukes, who are now 4-2-2 overall, moved to 4-0 at home - having not lost a home match since Oct. 27 of last season (2-0 to Saint Louis). The loss dropped Buffalo to 2-6-0. The French Connection of Kouame-to-Traore broke the ice in the 33rd minute, when Traore, who hails from Reims, France headed in a corner from Paris native Dorian Kouame for his second goal of the season. The 1-0 lead held to the half before Borenstein, off passes from Nigel Seidu and Chris Alescio buried his team-high fourth goal of the season in the 47th minute. Nick DiSomma capped the scoring when he headed in another Kouame corner in the 74th minute. Kozlowski, whose last game action was at California on Sept. 21, 2012, finished with six saves in posting his first career shutout. The Dukes outshot the Bulls 20-16. Corners were even at 4-4. Duquesne is now 10-1-1 at home under second-year head coach Chase Brooks.
FROM COACH BROOKS: "It's always nice to win at home. There's just something about the energy here. The guys just enjoy playing on this field. It is a very intimate environment - it was nice to see. The depth on our squad - and that's at every single position - showed today. This was a great confidence builder for Evan [Kozlowski] and I'm excited for him. As we get closer and closer to conference play, we have to continue to amp things up."
UP NEXT: The Dukes host Robert Morris in their final non-conference home match on Thursday, Sept. 25 under the lights at 7:00 p.m. on Rooney Field. Admission is free.
