From The Pitch
 
- The Duquesne University men's soccer team closes out a two-game road swing Saturday at 4:00 p.m. against Detroit Mercy at Titan Field in Detroit, Mich.
 
- The Dukes opened their road trip with a 1-1 draw at Robert Morris (8/30). Less than three minutes into the contest, junior Marko Rasmussen gave Duquesne a 1-0 advantage with his third goal of the year. The Colonials would secure the equalizer early in the second half.
 
- The Dukes wrapped up an unbeaten homestand prior to their tie at RMU, posting a 2-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's (8/27).
 
- Senior Cody Da scored the first goal of the contest in the win over the Mount, collecting his first career strike on the Bluff at 58:05 to give Duquesne the lead. Redshirt sophomore Jameson Michel would seal the triumph late, taking a feed from redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin and finding the back of the net at 89:38.
 
- The Dukes claimed their first victory of the 2026 season in their second game of the year, a 3-0 victory over Bowling Green (8/20). A scoreless game through 75 minutes, Duquesne secured the win with three goals in a span of six minutes.
 
- Redshirt sophomore forward Jameson Michel gave the Dukes their first goal of the 2026 campaign in the win over the Falcons, taking a cross from Sergios Feneridis in front of the net and tapping it into the goal to give Duquesne a 1-0 edge at 75:54.
 
- Just 17 seconds after the goal from Michel, junior forward Marko Rasmussen stretched the lead for Duquesne to 2-0 with his first goal of the campaign. He would add another strike less than six minutes later to settle the final score.
 
- The Dukes opened their 2026 campaign with a scoreless draw against Lafayette (8/20) at Rooney Field. Duquesne held a 15-6 edge in shots, with junior forward Roni Badler recording a game-high five.
 
- Redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin is the active leading scorer at Duquesne with 26 points courtesy of eight goals and 10 assists. He has started 37 of his 47 career games on the Bluff over the last four seasons.
 
- The Dukes are led by head coach Chase Brooks, who is in his 14th season leading the program in 2026. Brooks has compiled an overall record of 98-93-31 (.511) at Duquesne and is the program's all-time leader in coaching victories. In his 16th year as a head coach overall, Brooks has posted a mark of 120-99-40 (.541).
 
- Duquesne established a new program record with 11 consecutive wins at Rooney Field over the course of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, while its eight victories at home in 2024 is a school record. The Dukes own a mark of 33-6-7 (.793) at Rooney Field since the beginning of the 2021 campaign.
 
Scouting the Titans – Located in Detroit, Mich. … Member of the Horizon League … Owns an overall record of 1-2-1 (.375) and is coming off a 2-2 stalemate at Mercyhurst (9/1) … UDM opened its season with a 2-0 victory at St. Thomas (8/20) but dropped decisions to Adrian (8/24), 2-1, and Dayton (8/28), 5-1, before its draw with the Lakers … Junior midfielder Johnny Strickler recorded a brace at Mercyhurst, his second of the 2026 season … Strickler also scored both goals for Detroit Mercy in the victory at St. Thomas and owns a team-high four strikes … In his fourth season as head coach of the Titans is Nate Kopunek (Towson '14) … Duquesne and Detroit Mercy meet for the fifth time on the pitch Saturday, with the Duks holding a 2-1-1 (.625) edge in the all-time series … Last season, DU earned a 3-1 triumph over UDM at Rooney Field (9/30/25) in the first meeting between the two programs since 2018 … Each of the three goals for the Dukes in the win last year came in the second half.
 
Tip of the Cap – Thanks to the performances for Duquesne in its first two games of the year, a pair of student-athletes garnered weekly honors from the Atlantic 10. Junior forward Marko Rasmussen was selected as A-10 Offensive Player of the Week, while redshirt senior goalkeeper Sam Coss was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. Rasmussen scored a pair of goals in the win over Bowling Green (8/23) after entering this season with two goals in 26 career games on the Bluff. Coss, meanwhile, earned a pair of clean sheets in the first two games of the year, becoming the first Duquesne goalkeeper to turn the trick since 2022. Coss owns 14 saves through the first four games of 2026 after a career-high six at Robert Morris.
 
Reserve Spark – In returning four of its top five scorers from last year, junior forward Roni Badler was a key contributor for the Dukes, mostly as a reserve. He played in 11 contests a year ago, including one start, and tied for second on the squad in goals (4) while ranking third in points (8). Owning one of the more lethal strikes in the lineup, 52.4 percent (11-of-21) of Badler's shots during the year were on frame. He led Duquesne in shots on goal and was one of seven players to produce a game-winning goal throughout the season. Badler has played 19 career games on the Bluff and owns five goals on 14 shots on net, including a pair of game winners.
 
One – Since the beginning of the 2021 campaign, the Dukes own a record of 33-13 (.717) in one-goal matches. Included in that stretch is a 19-5 (.792) record in such games at Rooney Field and a 14-8 (.636) mark on the road.
