Alex Gladysiewski and Jim Spisak Named Academic All-Conference

Duquesne University track and field student-athletes junior Alex Gladysiewski (Manorville, Pa./Ford City) and senior Jim Spisak (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) have been named to the 10-man Atlantic 10 Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the league office.

Gladysiewski won the silver medal in the javelin at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship with a toss of 202-06. He is Duquesne's record holder in the javelin with a distance of 203-09 set at the 2012 Bison Outdoor Classic. A member of the Dean's List, Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Director of Athletics Honor Roll every semester, he boasts a 3.70 cumulative grade point average in nursing.

Spisak collects his second Academic All-Conference honor for track and his fourth overall. Duquesne's 2013-14 Student Athlete of the Year was the Atlantic 10 champion in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:34.14 as well as the A-10 champion in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 29:33.29. H set the school record in the 10,000 with a time of 29:02.09 at the 2014 Bennie Benson Invitational and also holds school records in the 1,500 meter run and the 5,000. He posted an undergraduate cumulative gpa of 3.76 in secondary education - social studies and has a perfect 4.00 through one year of graduate school in instructional technology.

The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
