Alex Woodrow to Compete at NCAA East Preliminary

May 22, 2013

Sophomore distance runner Alex Woodrow (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) has qualified for and will participate in the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championship competition in Greensboro, N.C.

He is one of 48 runners who will take part in the 10,000 meter run Thursday night at 9:40 pm. Woodrow qualified for the NCAA preliminaries by running a 29:44.27 at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell on April 14. The top 12 finishers will advance to the NCAA Championships June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

This marks the third straight year Duquesne has sent a male athlete to the preliminaries and the seventh year of the past eight. Woodrow is the fifth student-athlete in school history to qualify, following current assistant coach Tom Slosky (2006-08), Derek Dutille (2009), Mike Stolar (2011) and Jim Spisak (2011-12).
