Dukes Loses a Tight One to Detroit

Harmar, Pa. - The Duquesne women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Detroit on Saturday afternoon in a very tight contest. The Dukes fall to 4-7 on the season.

In doubles, Detroit took the point with only Meagan O'Sullivan and Sarah Shashura winning for the Dukes at the number one spot, 8-5.

The Dukes fell behind 3-0 early before Judy Li and Sarah Shashura rallied them to make the match competitive. Li won the number one singles match 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Shashura won the number three singles match 6-4, 7-5, for her first victory of the season.

Alexa Miller also won her singles match at the number six spot, 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-3.

The Dukes return to action next weekend on Saturday at Dayton to resume Atlantic 10 play. The match is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
