Women's Tennis Defeats Saint Francis, Pa.

HARMAR, Pa. - The Duquesne women's tennis team got back on the winning track with a 6-1 victory over Saint Francis, Pa. on Wednesday.

The Dukes took two of three matches in doubles and five of six singles matches to improve to 4-6 overall this season.

The team of Megan O'Sullivan and Judy Li were 8-4 winners over Alex Sachs and Lucy Jasso in the #1 spot and Alrissa Tobe and Daniela Osio - who saw her first doubles action of the spring season - were 8-2 winners at #3 over Devynn Sarver and Laura Husband.

In singles, Vanessa Steiner recorded her second straight victory playing at #1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nuria Valls. O'Sullivan won at #2 singles 6-2, 6-0 over Sarver. Li dropped the first set against Shivani Patel 6-2, but came back to win 6-4 (8). Chandler Consonery was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at #5 over Sachs and Tara Majdalani returned to the #6 spot and as a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Husband.

Next up for the Dukes is a trip to Olean, N.Y. On Sunday, DUQ will play Bucknell then A-10 rival St. Bonaventure on Monday afternoon. Both matches are at the SBU Tennis Courts.
