Aram Abgaryan Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week

Feb. 1, 2012

Duquesne University senior tennis player Aram Abgaryan (Calabasas, Calif./Montclair Prep/Loyola Marymount) has been named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week for the week ending Jan. 29.

Abgaryan captures the first A-10 award of 2012 after posting a 3-1 mark at number one singles and a doubles victory on the No. 1 court over the first two weeks of the spring season. He earned a straight-set (7-6, 6-2) victory over Cleveland State's Ali Shabib, before decisively defeating Detroit's Alex Latosinsky, 6-2, 6-4. He also rallied from one set down to earn a 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-2 triumph over James Madison's Greg Vladimirsky.

His singles wins versus Cleveland State and James Madison clinched the match-winning fourth team point in both matches. His singles record now stands at 11-4 for the 2011-12 campaign.

The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, Feb. 4 as they host Colgate in a 5:00 p.m. match at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
