BUFFALO - After a 30-minute weather delay to start the contest, the Duquesne women's soccer team fell to 1-7-1 on the season after its 2-1 loss to Canisius on Friday night.
The Golden Griffins got on the board in the sixth minute and added to its lead in the 53rd minute.
The Dukes scored off a corner kick that was kicked in by a Canisius defender in the 61st minute. The Dukes had a chance to tie the match with 15 seconds to play in regulation, but Paige Maroney's shot was high.
After a week off, Duquesne will open it's Atlantic 10 Conference schedule against Richmond on Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m.
