Dukes Open 2011 Track Season at Colonial Relays

Duquesne's men's track and field squad opened its 2011 season by competing in the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. The Dukes placed 11th in the 35-team field.

Vibert Defreitas scored eight team points for the Dukes with a second place finish in the long jump, leaping 22-07.75. He followed that with a third place showing and six team points in the triple jump with a mark of 46-08.00.

Jim Spisak captured a third place finish of his own with a time of 14:08.64 in the 5,000 meter run, just .26 off a school record time. Mark Bucklaw was another Duke to score team points, grabbing two with his seventh place finish in the 1,500 meter run in 3:50.96.

The Red and Blue added and eight place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:19.69, a fifth place showing in the 4x1500 in 16:09.14 and a third place finish in the distance relay in 9:58.95.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, April 8 as they compete in the two-day Duke Invitational.
