Xavier Results / George Washington Results
Duquesne's men's tennis team dropped a pair of weeekend matches to two Atlantic 10 foes who are picked by the league's coaches to win the conference title. The Dukes lost to Xavier, 5-2 on Friday and fell to George Washington, 5-2 on Sunday. Both matches were played at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
Aram Abgaryan won both of his singles matches while Kyle O'Leary and Pete Carpenter each went 1-1 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles action. Steve Herchko and Max Rubin also teamed up for a victory versus Xavier at number one doubles.
"This weekend was a good test to see where our guys stack up against the two preseason favorites," said head coach Rob Castille. "I thought we learned a lot from the Xavier match and competed better against GW. Even in the two losses, I know we will take a lot of good things from the matches and learn from them. This will make us a better team moving forward."
The Dukes return to action on Friday, Feb. 25 as they host Cleveland State at 6:00 pm.
