Robert Morris Results / Carnegie Mellon Results
Duquesne's men's tennis team won its only two head-to-head matches of the fall season by downing Robert Morris, 7-0 and Carnegie Mellon, 7-2 Saturday at CMU's campus.
Freshman Rich Robbie went a perfect 4-0 on the day, winning both of his matches at number two doubles with fellow frosh Alex Aleman and winning both of his matches at fourth singles.
Senior Aram Abgaryan went 3-0 with two wins at first singles and a win at third doubles.
"The team was very focused in the first match against Robert Morris and came out ready to play. Knowing that we had another match later that day, I was pleased with how efficient they played," head coach Rob Castille said.
"Carnegie Mellon is a very good D3 school and we knew we had to play well to beat them. They are particularly strong in doubles so I was pleased that we won 2 out of the 3 matches," Castille continued. "In singles, we had a few obstacles to overcome but we were able to take five out of the six matches. Overall, I was pleased with the wins. We will continue to work on those things that came up in our matches and will look to improve each week."
The Dukes return to action on Oct. 20 as they compete in the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships.
