Women's Tennis Defeats Youngstown State 4-3

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Duquesne women's tennis team defeated Youngstown State by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Dukes split the six singles matches and swept the doubles matches to improve to 8-10 on the season.

DU took the doubles point by winning all three matches. Margarita Rachel McGowan and Samantha Noble defeated Sadovinikova and Lauren Hankle by a score of 8-2 at the #1 spot. At the #2 spot, Erin Conroy and Megan O'Sullivan defeated Anna Volkova and Tanisha Welch 9-8 (5). Stephanie Novakowski and Tara Majdalani were 9-8 (3) winners at #3 over Lauren Hankle and Hannah Patten.

In singles, Sadovnikova defeated Ana Mungo in three sets at the #1 spot 6-2, 1-6, 10-7. Due to injury, McGowan did not play at #2 and O'Sullivan fell at #3 7-6 (6), 6-4 to Volkova.

Conroy was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at #4 over Welch. Noble defeated Haralambopolous 6-2, 6-2 at #5 and Majdalani defeated Patten 6-0, 6-1 at #6.

Next up for the Dukes is the Atlantic 10 Championship in St. Louis, Mo. on April 23-25.
