Women's Tennis Completes Successful Weekend at Eastern Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Duquesne women's tennis team completed a successful weekend at the Eastern Championship on the campus of the United States Military Academy. The three-day tournament featured the play of 31 different schools from all along the East coast.

The Dukes were highlighted by Samantha Noble who was the runner-up at 4th singles and Ana Mungo who bounced back after an early loss to win the consolation bracket at 2nd singles.

Zena Williams earned a pair of wins at the 1st singles position and Rachel McGowan picked up a win at 3rd singles.

In doubles, the team of Megan O'Sullivan and Erin Conroy won three straight matches before falling in the semifinals at first doubles. Tara Majdalani and Stephanie Novakowski dropped both their matches at second doubles.

This event concludes the Fall season. The Dukes return to action January 23, 2010 when they host UMBC at the Club Sport and Health (formerly Club 4 Life) in Monroeville, Pa.
