LEWISBURG - The Duquesne women's tennis team has a successful weekend at the Bucknell Invitational this weekend. The Dukes were represented in the finals of each singles and doubles event.
Flight A Singles
The Dukes entered three players in the Flight A Singles - Rachel McGowan, Ana Mungo and Zena Williams. Mungo advanced to the finals before falling to Bucknell's Lauren Lucido in a hard-fought match, 3-6, 6-1 (10-7). Williams recorded a pair of win before falling to Lucido in the semi-finals. McGowan picked up a win in the back draw.
Flight B Singles
Duquesne dominated the Flight B Singles, placing all three of their entries in the semifinals. Samantha Noble and Megan O'Sullivan met in the finals but did not play. Noble had to defeat teammate Erin Conroy 7-5, 3-6 (10-4) to advance.
Flight C Singles
Tara Majdalani advanced to the finals of the Flight C Singles before falling to Hofstra's Sonia Tsay 6-1, 6-3. Stephanie Novakowski had a win in the back draw.
Flight A Doubles
The teams of Williams/McGowan and Noble/Mungo take over the Flight A Doubles. The teams met in the finals, but did not play.
Flight B Doubles
Conroy and O'Sullivan remained undefeated on the season, as they only lost six games the entire way, winning the Flight B Doubles. Majdalani and Novakowski split a pair of matches.
Up next for the Dukes is the Eastern Championships. The three-day event takes place in West Point, N.Y. on the campus of the United States Military Academy on Sept. 25-27.
