DETROIT - The Duquesne lacrosse team won its third match in a row on Sunday afternoon after their 20-6 victory over Detroit. The Dukes were led by Katie Rekart who had a career-high seven points, scoring once and dishing out six assists and Megan Frederick who also recorded a career-high seven points with a goal and six assists. Ashley Wood, coming off a seven-goal match against Bucknell, scored six times leading DU to their largest two-game goal output in program history - 40 goals.
For the second consecutive match, Duquesne led from start-to-finish. The Dukes scored five times in the first 5:09 of play with Alicia Krause and Wood exchanging scores twice along with Shannon Hadaway who netted her 10th goal of the season.
The Titans (1-4), got their first goal from Emily Boissonneault, but the Dukes would score six successive times capped by a pair from Cailin Colegrove whose free possession shot gave the Dukes an 11-1 lead and a running clock.
Detroit's Rachel Iturralde would find the back of the net before Elise Caldwell, Sarah Carson and Rekart would increase DU's lead to 14-2 at the 3:37 mark of the half. UDM's Anna Eidem closed out the first half scoring.
Duquesne would continue to roll in the second half, scoring six more times on three goals from Wood and one each from Liz Fey and Janna Faulkner.
Sara Beckstead (40 minutes) and Caitlin Carducci (20 minutes) split time in goal with each giving up three goals apiece. Wood had a game-best four ground balls and Fey a match-high five draw controls. Amy Gladfelter tied her season-high with two caused turnovers.
The Dukes return home on Tues. Mar. 17 when they host cross-town rival Robert Morris for a 7:00 p.m. match.

- The previous two-match record for goals was 39 when Duquesne scored 19 at Robert Morris (2/25/07) and 20 against Monmouth (3/2/07)
- Duquesne converted on all three of their free position shots
- The Dukes led in shots 35-15, ground balls 24-16 and draw controls 22-6
- This is the first time DU has won their first two road matches to open up the season in 10 years - defeating Stanford (3/7/99) and UC Davis (3/10/99)
