PITTSBURGH - Samantha Pollino tied her career-high with 23 points and Kristi Little added 12 in her final game at the A.J. Palumbo Center as the Duquesne women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 71-54 victory over Rhode Island Sunday afternoon.

Eve Pyle had eight rebounds for Duquesne (19-10, 9-5). URI's Lindsay Harris and Megan Shoniker led the Rams with 11 points each. Sierra Cooper grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Rams (9-20, 2-12) who dropped their ninth game in a row.
The Dukes led from start-to-finish to wrap up their 19th victory of the season and a four-way tie for fourth place with George Washington, St. Bonaventure and Richmond in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings.
DU jumped out to an early 9-2 advantage five minutes into the opening half and never looked back. A Kelly Britcher jumper at the 7:46 mark and another with 3:30 remaining in the first half gave Duquesne their highest leads of the half - 15 points.
Duquesne went into halftime with a 36-22 lead while shooting 14-for-35 (.400).
Rhode Island would only get as close as 11 points midway through the second half, as the Dukes were up 19 with less than a minute to play. Cooper's jumper with 25 seconds left closed out the scoring for the day, with the Dukes winning their sixth game in a row, 71-54.
The Dukes finished the game shooting 24-for-58 (.414) from the floor, the 14th time this season they have shot .400 or better.

GAME NOTES
- This is the best Atlantic 10 Conference finish since 2003-04 when Duquesne went 10-6 and the best winning A-10 winning percentage (.643) in school history
- The 19 wins is a Division I era regular season record - the 1981-82 Duchesses recorded 19 wins when they played at the Division II level
- Duquesne is 15-0 when hold the opponent under 40 percent from the floor
- This is the second six-game winning streak of the season - DU began the season 6-0 before falling to Towson on Nov. 30
- Little moved into 10th place on Duquesne all-time scoring list (1,208 career points)
