WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kelly Britcher's 3-pointer with one second left did not fall, as an incredible Duquesne comeback fell just short Saturday afternoon at the Smith Center, 85-82, against George Washington.

Kristi Little scored a game-best 29 points as the Dukes fell to 11-8, 1-3.

Jessica Adair recorded a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Tara Booker pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Colonials controlled the tempo from the start, beginning the game on a 13-2 run.

The Dukes struggled from the field making only two of their first 13 attempts and missed their first seven 7 3-pointers.

The Colonials lead reached 22 points with 1:06 remaining in the half helped by 11 second chance points, taking a 45-27 lead into halftime.

The Dukes slowly go themselves back in the game in the second half. Samantha Pollino's sixth basket of the half narrowed the Colonials lead to nine points at the 8:09 mark. Both teams would exchange points over seven minutes.

With 57 seconds remaining in regulation, the Dukes stared a nine point deficit in the face, 83-74. Little hit a jumper at the 43 second mark to cut the GW lead to seven points.

The next two series were identical - GW would make 1-of-2 from the foul line and Duquesne would respond with 3-pointers by Eve Pyle and Little. With 14 seconds left in the game, Duquesne was within three points, 85-82.

The Dukes fouled Yolanda Lavender on the next possession, who missed both of her foul shots. Pyle grabbed the rebound and DU called its final timeout with eight seconds remaining.

Little found Britcher for the game-tying shot, but it did not go down, as the Colonials came away with the victory.

The Dukes return home for a three-game home stand beginning Wednesday night against St. Bonaventure. DU will host Richmond for a televised game on CBS College Sports on Feb. 1, followed by Saint Joseph's on Feb. 4.
