Duquesne University tennis players junior Alex Mast (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and freshman Mikhael Rasner (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) have been named Atlantic 10 Player and Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 16. It is Mast's first A-10 honor of the season and Rasner's third.
Mast went 4-0 on the weekend, winning singles matches against Temple (6-2, 7-5) and Saint Joseph's (4-6, 7-5, 1-0(8)) from the No. 1 flight. He also coupled to win both doubles matches with a 9-8 (5) victory against Temple and an 8-3 win against St. Joe's.
Rasner also went 4-0 on the weekend, winning his matches in the No. 6 flight against Temple (6-1, 6-2) and at fifth singles over Saint Joseph's (6-3, 6-1) He too, won both doubles matches against Temple and Saint Joseph's, 8-3 and 8-3, respectively. He is now 20-6 in singles play and 16-7 in doubles action this season.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, March 21 as they host St. Bonaventure at 1:00 pm at Club 4 Life in Monroeville.
