KINGSTON, R.I. - Jocelyn Chandler poured in a season-high 18 points as the Duquesne women's basketball won their third consecutive game and team evened its overall record to 14-14 while moving one step closer to clinching a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Keri Pryor recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high10 rebounds. Samantha Pollino was one rebound shy of recording her third double-double of the season with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kristi Little scored in double-digits for the 28th consecutive game with 15 points.
Rhode Island's Amanda McGrew led the Rams with 17 points.
Duquesne took control of the first half from the 16:31 mark, holding Rhode Island's top scorer Safi Mojidi pointless. Pollino's field goal with 27 seconds remaining in the half gave Duquesne a 13-point lead, its largest lead of the half.
Mojidi's 3-pointer capped a 14-5 run to cut the DU lead to three points at 52-49 with 7:34 remaining in the game.
The Dukes responded by outscoring the Rams 14-3 to put the game out of reach, 66-52 with less than two minutes left.
DU shot a season-best .548 from the field, converting on 23-42 attempts. The Dukes made 8-12 3-pointers (.667) which was also a season-high. The +19 rebound margin tied the season-best (N.C. Central, Jan. 19)
Duquesne will have to wait until Saturday to find out their post-season fate. A win against La Salle will guarantee a spot in the Atlantic 10 tournament.
