Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis team's doubles point win was the difference as the Dukes topped cross-town rival Pittsburgh Panthers, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon at Club 4 Life in Monroeville. The win was the fifth straight for the Red and Blue, who raised their spring record to 11-5, 13-6 overall. The Panthers fell to 10-6 on the season.
The teams split the six singles matches. Senior Jacqueline Hughes, junior Andrea Sailer and freshman Rachel McGowan won their singles matches.
In doubles, the duos of Hughes and sophomore Rebecca Poole, and junior Johanna Bezjak and McGowan were both victors by identical 8-4 scores.
The Dukes next host Atlantic 10 foe George Washington at Club 4 Life on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 3:00 p.m.
