The Duquesne Women's Soccer Team landed early Sunday morning in Edinburgh, Scotland. After strategically packing all of our luggage into the bus we were off to tour Edinburgh Castle, home to the early Scottish Kings and the Scottish Crown Jewels. Following the tour we walked the street known as the Royal Mile before returning to the bus.
After preparing for the cold weather we headed to Hibernian to watch an SPL Pro Game. Most of us were feeling the affects of jet-lag, but managed to stayawake long enough to witness Hibernian lose 2-0 to the Rangers. We returned to the hotel for a team dinner before heading to bed quite early.
After a good night's sleep we were ready to venture out to Sterling Castle and the Wallace National Monument, both of which were featured in the movie "Braveheart" starring Mel Gibson. The view from the top of the Wallace National Monument was breathtaking at a height of 220 feet. After seeing historical Scotland, we were ready to play one of their teams who happened to be sitting second atop the league. At the final whistle the Dukes came out on top 3-1, not bad for our first Spring season game.

The Duquesne Women's Soccer team departed Edinburgh, Scotland on the morning of March 6 destined for Chester, England. Along the way, stops included the Moffatt Woolen Mill and Old Trafford Stadium, home to Manchester United. An optional tour was offered at the stadium and there was plenty of time to purchase Man. U apparel.
The following day began with a visit to Chester for shopping and sightseeing. The girls had a training session at mid day before leaving for the Champions League game between Manchester United and Lille that night. It was a once in a lifetime experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The 1-0 victory by Manchester United was the perfect end to a long day.

On Thursday, March 8, the team departed for London. At mid-day we stopped at Aston Villa FC for a complimentary tour, lunch and even some awesome gear. The generosity shown to us by the club was appreciated greatly by all. A later stop was made in Stratford-upon-Avon to look around the town where Shakespeare was born. After a day of traveling we checked in to our hotel before eating out in London.
The next morning we started early with a "round London" tour of sights such as Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace and a few others. The afternoon was free for shopping in downtown London.
On the last day of our trip we visited the Tower of London where we saw the Crown Jewels and old Execution Sites. Grabbing a quick bite to eat, the team was back on the bus headed to Charlton Athletic for our second game of the trip. We came out a bit slow, but in the last hour were able to compete very well against good competition. Our last night overseas was an enjoyable night out in London, the perfect way to end a fantastic trip.
