With just over five minutes left in the half, Chandler hit her second hoop from beyond the arc to give the Dukes a three-point lead at 18-15. This sparked a 13-2 run to give DU a 28-19 lead. The Bonnies got an Edwards layup with nine seconds left to end the half 28-19 in favor of the Dukes.

Two free throws by Kristi Little gave DU a 32-23 lead just over three minutes into the second half. But SBU got the momentum going with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 32-30 for DU. The Dukes quickly responded with an 8-0 run in the next 2:25 to take a 40-30 advantage with 11:42 left in regulation.
