Mann led the defense with a game-best and Duquesne single-game record eight caused turnovers while winning four draws. Stacie Pollock scooped up four ground balls.

The Explorers sprang to a commanding 6-0 lead at the 19:57 mark holding the Dukes scoreless until Mulford's free position goal at 24:31 put the Duquesne on the board and started a three-goal streak for herself and the Dukes. She would score from Alison Smith :22 second later and ended the frame with an unassisted goal at 29:19 for a 6-3 deficit at the break.

Duquesne (7-3, 0-1) held a 21-17 advantage in shots in the first period, but where whistled for 25 fouls to the Explorers' 10 fouls.

The Red & Blue continued on its scoring spree upping its run to 5-0 as Tamasitis scored unassisted in the 5th minute and took the feed from Kathleen McNish less than a minute later to get within a 6-5 reach 6:01 into the second frame. Bornema and Prokop scored for La Salle extending their lead to 8-5 with 8:38 off the clock. Mann won the draw and drove to the cage hitting an unassisted score just :10 later before Tamasitis scored from Meg Cloutman a minute later for an 8-7 reach 9:47 into play. The Explorers hit an insurance goal in the 12th minute for a 9-7 edge before seven minutes of scoreless action passed. La Salle broke the span on a Mara Sardella free position goal at 20:00 for a 10-7 margin. Williams notched a free position goal at 21:59 for a 10-8 reach, but it would end the game's scoring. Duquesne saw two potential scores go just wide of the goal at 23:08 and 23:48 and had a pass intercepted in its 8-meter arc at 24:24 which dampened the Dukes' come-back efforts.

The Dukes committed just 10 turnovers in the contest to La Salle's 24 - 18 of which were forced by Duquesne. DU held a 37-24 lead in shots, a 26-14 margin in ground balls, but fell short in draws won (12-9) and saves (17-6).
