Women's Tennis Takes Pitt 5-2

Results

The Duquesne women's tennis team took a 5-2 decision over host Pitt Wednesday afternoon at Club 4 Life in Monroeville. The Dukes took the doubles point and won four of six singles to take their fourth-straight win and the seventh in the last eight contests.

Johanna Bezjak and Andrea Sailer won 8-6 at second doubles and Ciara McDermott and Alexandria Albano won 8-6 at third doubles to give the Dukes a 1-0 edge.

Hughes won at 2nd singles 6-2, 6-3 followed by Rebecca Poole's 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win at third singles; Sailer's 7-5, 6-4 edge at fourth singles and Alicia McNamara's 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 bout at fifth singles.

Bezjak suffered a 6-0, 6-2 fall at first singles and Abagail Ball fell 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles.

DU will host West Virginia Tues. April 18 before competing in the Atlantic 10 Championships Apr. 21-23 at the Dukes' home facility, Club 4 Life, in Monroeville.
