Results

Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis team, in their first match since returning from a three-game Florida trip, also returned to the win column with a 4-3 win over the Temple Owls, Saturday at Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.

The teams split the six singles matches with junior Jackie Hughes, freshman Rebecca Poole and junior Alicia McNamara capturing straight set victories at numbers 2, 3 and 6 singles.

The three ladies who were topped by Temple in their singles matches, sophomores Johanna Bezjak and Andrea Sailer and freshman Alexandria Albano, joined up with junior Ciara McDermott and won the number 2 and number 3 doubles games for the game-deciding doubles point.

The Dukes improved their overall record to 7-5. Temple's season mark is an even 7-7.

Duquesne next embarks on a four-game homestand starting with a match with Cleveland State on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.
