AKRON, OHIO - Duquesne suffered a 55-43 loss at the hands of the Akron Zips Tuesday night at Rhodes Arena. Kristi Little led the Dukes with 15 points and added a game-best five steals while Carmen Bruce added 13 and a team-best nine rebounds in the loss.

Akron was led by Niki McCoy with a game-best 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Zips opened the game with an 11-5 lead after a traditional three-point play with 13:54 on the clock as the Dukes suffered from the field hitting just 1-7 attempts. Jocelyn Chandler's basket at 11:17 gave DU an 11-7 reach before four unanswered Akron points gave the Zips a 15-7 margin at 9:05. The half would see 4:15 of scoreless play on both sides on the court before Lauren Stephenson broke the silence with a goal at 4:50 for a 17-7 Zips lead. Duquesne had made just 2-17 attempts from the field to this point in the game and had gone since 11:17 without scoring. Kristi Little put an end to the 10:00 scoreless span for the Red & Blue hitting both of the one-and-one bonus at 1:18. Akron would end the half taking a 23-9 lead in the intermission.

Akron out-rebounded the Dukes 26-14 in the first half and out-shot DU .333 (11-33) to .095 (2-21). Duquesne had seven steals to the Zips' five.

The Dukes opened the second half with a 7-0 run cutting the deficit to a 23-16 margin at 16:37 and Little's three at 15:01 brought it to an eight-point game (26-19), but a 5-2 run gave the Zips a 32-21 lead with 12:46 on the clock. Duquesne would get within eight points several times before Keri Pryor's three put DU within a 42-35 edge with 5:10 ticking. Duquesne would hit just eight more points the remainder of the contest taking the 55-43 loss.

The loss puts Duquesne at 5-4 while Akron improves to 3-5.

Akron out-rebounded DU 47-33 for the game and out-shot the Dukes .321 (18-56) to .281 (16-57) for the game. Duquesne hit the only three pointers of the contest going 3-15 while Akron was 0-13 on the night.

Duquesne next travels to West Virginia Dec. 8 for a 7:00 pm non-conference bout.
