Duquesne-Fordham Postgame Quotes

Sept. 10, 2005

Recap | Box Score | Notes

Duquesne Head Coach Jerry Schmitt

"I was hoping we wouldn't have a letdown after the emotional game we played last week [against cross-town rival Robert Morris]. I was concerned during warmups, but my staff assured me that the team was serious about what they were doing. I knew we had a good defense coming into the season, but they are impressing me more and more each week. We used our speed and quickness to our advantage and I think it eventually wore them down. Kyle Postell's interception at the end of the half gave us a real emotional lift. It is a tough thing [for an opponent] to come back from right before the half. Our toughest game is always the next one. Our kids are going into every game with that attitude."

Duquesne Defensive Tackle Josh Antinopoulos

"They hit a lot of big plays on us last year (a 41-34 Fordham win). I think our secondary really stepped up today. We had big expectations for our team, but we weren't sure what we were capable of. We were missing a couple of starting linemen and also lost a defensive back, but our young guys came through big time. We're usually undersized on the defensive line. We fight as hard as we can every game, especially against teams of this caliber. You could see their heads drop after the interception [by Kyle Postell]. That set the tone for the second half."
