Duquesne University freshman middle distance runner Tom Slosky (Brackenridge, PA/Highlands) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Men's Track and Field Co-Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. It is the second week in a row that he has won the award.
Slosky won the 5,000 meter event at the Bucknell Five-Way on Saturday, April 23 in a personal-best time of 14:42.11. His time was 0:00.11 shy of qualifying for the IC4A Championship in May. Last week he won the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic on April 16, setting a Duquesne record with an IC4A qualifying time of 9:13.22.
This marks the Dukes' fourth A-10 track honor of the season as senior Chuck Mohan (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) was named Performer of the Week on March 21 and Ryan Shaver (Southwick, MA/Southwick-Tolland) was named Rookie of the Week on April 4.
Duquesne returns to action on Thursday, April 28 as the Dukes compete in the three-day long Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
