Duquesne University's men's track and field team is competing in the eighth annual Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday, May 1-2, at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, VA. Last season, the Dukes finished fifth among eight teams.
Junior Chuck Mohan (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) heads into the tournament second in the A-10 this year in the shot put and discus throw and sixth in the hammer. Sophomore Ryan Wotus (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) has recorded the second best pole vault height in the league this season. Junior Ryan Bender (Indiana, PA / Indiana) has recorded the third best time in the 10,000 meter run and the fifth fastest in the 5,000 meter race. Freshman Mike Murawski (Cinnaminson, NJ / Holy Cross) has achieved the second best high jump distance this season among league competitors.
Rhode Island is the defending champion. Also fielding teams are Fordham, La Salle, Massachusetts, Richmond, Saint Joseph's and Temple.
The first day of the Championship will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1 with the women's heptathlon. On Sunday, May 2, the men's decathlon begins the second day of competition at 8:45 a.m.
