Duquesne University will host the 2003 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship this weekend at the Oxford Athletic Club in Monroeville, PA. Play, which will crown the first of nine Atlantic 10 Spring champions, starts on Friday, Apr. 11 at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude on Sunday.
Leading the Dukes are junior Micael Lopez-Acevedo (Guaynabo, PR / Colegio Marista), this week's conference Co-Player of the Week, with a 17-8 singles wins, freshman Devon Peightal (Fairview, PA / Cathedral Prep) with 14-11 singles and 13-11 doubles marks, sophomore Ryan Moseley (St. Michael, Barbados / Harrison College) with 13-10 in singles and 13-11 in doubles along with fellow sophomore Seth Fogelman (Naples, FL / Barron Collier) who paces the Red and Blue in doubles with a 15-8 record.
The Dukes are coming off a 3-0 weekend, winning over hosts Denison (7-0), Dayton (6-1) and Wright State (6-1). Duquesne has a season mark of 10-9 (6-8 in the spring).
Richmond is the defending champio as the Spiders won their first-ever men's tennis title last year, defeating George Washington, 4-2, in the final. Eleven schools compete in men's tennis; UMass which competes in men's lacrosse is the lone A-10 school not represented in this sport.
Play starts on Friday, Apr. 11 at 8:00 a.m. with the final match of the day beginning at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, Apr. 12, play begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. The fifth- and seventh-place matches of the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship will commence on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 8:00 a.m. The championship match and third-place match will follow at 11:00 a.m.
