Duquesne University's Lauren Bracco (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills West) has been named to the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Mid-Atlantic All-America Third Team.
Bracco, a senior midfielder, led the Dukes and ranked second in the Atlantic 10 with 10 goals and added two assists for a team-best 21 points. She netted six of the Dukes' eight game-winning goals this season and ranks second in the A-10 in that category. Bracco set a new Duquesne single-season goal mark with her 10 scores this year, ranks first on the DU career goals list with 16 and is tied for first in career points with 37. Her nine game-winning goals rank first all-time on the Duquesne career list as well.
A two-time second-team all-conference performer in 2002 and 2000, she is just the second women's soccer player at Duquesne to be lauded a first-team selection with her 2003 accolade. Bracco also has the distinction of being the Dukes' first and only Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year (2000) and Regional All-American.
Bracco helped lead Duquesne to an 8-10-2 overall record this year, a vast improvement over last season's 1-9-1 mark. The team's eight wins are the most since the 1998 squad went 9-8-2. The Dukes finished the regular season seventh in the Atlantic 10 with a 4-6-1 record. Their four league wins are the most since 1999 when the team posted a 5-6-0 showing.
Additionally, she is a 2003 CoSIDA District 2 Academic All-America and a 2003 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference pick.
