PITTSBUGRH - The Duquesne women's tennis team finished their first tournament of the fall season Sunday afternoon on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University.
Zena Williams finished third in Flight #1 singles defeating CMU's Amanda Wu 8-4. Rachel McGowan was slated to play Slippery Rock's Laura Hardy, but due to an injury would up facing and defeating CMU's Jennifer Chiu 6-2. McGowan played an additional match, defeating CMU's Laura Chin 6-2.
At the Flight #2 singles, Rebecca Poole was a 8-4 winner over SRU's Jessie Hilborn.
In the championship of the #3 singles, Tara Majdalani defeated CMU's Cze-ja Tam 7-6, 6-4. Alexandria Albano fell to Ashley Herrick of CMU 8-6.
In another scheduling change - at Flight #4 singles - Stephanie Novakowski played Samantha Blackburn instead of Kelly Stanger. Novakowski fell 8-2.
Lanna Buehler fell to CMU's Danielle Rosenfeld 6-2, 6-2 in the Flight #4 championship.
The Dukes will travel to West Virginia University next weekend for the Martha Thorn Invitational.
