Washington, D.C. – Senior
Kaya Rand of the Duquesne University women's tennis team was tabbed to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team, announced by the league office on Monday evening.
Rand, a native of Kobe, Japan, compiled an impressive overall record of 30-20 during the 2024-25 campaign, leading the Dukes with a 17-8 mark in singles competition. In the spring season, she posted a team-best 12-6 singles record while primarily competing at the No. 2 and 3 positions. She excelled at the No. 2 slot with an 8-4 record and added a 4-2 mark at No. 3. Against conference opponents, the senior went 5-1, including a crucial victory in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship that helped Duquesne reach the quarterfinals for the first time since the 2020-21 season. Earlier in the year, Rand enjoyed a strong stretch, winning seven of eight singles matches between January 18 and March 2.
The senior also made an impact in doubles play, finishing the season with a 13-12 overall record, including an 8-7 mark in the spring. Competing primarily at the top two spots, she posted an 8-6 record at the No. 1 position. Rand led the team with a 3-1 record against Atlantic 10 opponents and closed the season strong, winning four of her final five doubles matches between April 5 and April 25.
Rand earns her first career postseason honor from the conference after an impressive two-year run with the Dukes, during which she totaled 38 doubles victories and 30 singles wins. Earlier this month, the Japan native was named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team for the second consecutive year and was previously recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete last season.
