Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Duquesne University women's tennis team has been honored with the ITA All-Academic Team award for the ninth consecutive year, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In addition, six Dukes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, recognizing their excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or better, when factoring all letterwinners into the cumulative grade-point average for the current academic year. ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
The Dukes wrapped up the calendar year with an impressive team GPA of 3.71, highlighted by six individuals earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. Leading the way was junior
Jasa Roka, who claimed the distinction for the third consecutive year. Senior
Kaya Rand and junior
Taisia Yakunina each earned the honor for the second straight time, while sophomore
Alexandra O'Brien and freshmen
Denisse Arinez Guilarte and
Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez were recognized as first-time honorees.
