Guinyard Earns NABC All-District Accolades

Senior guard named to 2026 NABC Mid Atlantic Region Second Team

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Senior guard Tarence Guinyard of the Duquesne University men's basketball team collected another postseason honor Tuesday, as he was named to the 2026 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Mid Atlantic Region Second Team.

Guinyard, a native of Tampa, Fla., is the first member of the Dukes to garner NABC all-region accolades since former guard Dae Dae Grant (2022-24) was named to the 2023 NABC District 4 Second Team. In 32 games in 2025-26, each as a member of the starting lineup, Guinyard led the Dukes in scoring (16.6 points per game), assists (4.69 per game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.11).

From the floor, Guinyard converted 45 percent (167-for-371) of his attempts, including 36 percent (71-for-197) from beyond the arc, while also knocking down 71.4 percent (125-for-175) of his shots at the free-throw line. Among Atlantic 10 leaders entering postseason play, he ranks second in the conference in scoring, fourth in assists and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio. He also ranks 10th in three-point field goals made per contest (2.22).

Guinyard's 150 assists during the 2025-26 campaign helped him become the ninth player in program history to dish out at least 150 in a season and the most since former guard Sincere Carry logged 158 in 30 games (5.27 apg) as a sophomore in 2019-20. He also posted 27 double-figure scoring games for Duquesne this season, including a team-high 11 eclipsing the 20-point plateau.

Among his exploits during the 2025-26 campaign, Guinyard scored a season-high 30 points at Villanova (Nov. 15) as the Dukes wrapped up play in the Villanova Challenge. He also registered his second career double-double, and first at Duquesne, with 12 points and a career-high 12 assists against St. Bonaventure (Jan. 28) at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Guinyard tied the program's single-game record for dimes against the Bonnies, becoming the fifth player in school history to dish out 12 in a game.

Arguably the most impressive performance of the year for Guinyard came in an 88-86 victory over George Washington (Feb. 7). He scored 23 of his game-high 27 points in the second half, including 16 consecutive at one point, to power the Dukes to victory. It was one of six times during the 2025-26 season that Guinyard would score at least 15 points in the second half.

Guinyard also scored on a layup with 0.3 seconds remaining to help lift Duquesne to a 62-61 triumph over La Salle (Feb. 18), and he scored 13 points in the second half of a 79-77 win over Richmond (March 7) on Senior Day. The contribution helped the Dukes erase a 30-point deficit as Duquesne became the fourth program in NCAA Division I history to charge back from a deficit of 30 points or more.

A transfer from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM), Guinyard started 60 of the 64 career games he appeared in over the last two seasons, scoring 1,051 points, an average of 16.4 points per contest. He was named to the 2025 All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) First Team and in his lone season on the Bluff was tabbed to the 2026 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team. Guinyard became the first member of the Dukes to garner all-conference first team accolades since Damian Saunders (2007-11) in 2010.

Led by head coach Dru Joyce III, Duquesne posted its third winning season in the last four years in 2025-26 with an overall record of 18-15 (.545). The Dukes finished 9-9 (.500) in the Atlantic 10 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship thanks to a 67-61 win over Rhode Island (March 12) at PPG Paints Arena.
