NOTHING BUT NYLON
- The Duquesne women's basketball team travels to Bronx, N.Y. to face Fordham in an Atlantic 10 matchup inside Rose Hill Gym, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

- The Dukes snapped its 11-game skid on Wednesday morning, defeating Loyola Chicago 67-55 inside UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse during Education Day. The win was also Duquesne's first conference victory this season.

- It was a slow start for both teams before sophomore Harriet Ford gave Duquesne a 6-5 edge heading into the first media timeout. After the Ramblers scored out of the break, the Dukes closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 15-9 lead into the second.

- Sophomore Mackenzie Blackford sparked the surge with a triple and following a bucket from Alexa Kinas, freshman Alexis Bordas answered with a layup, and redshirt sophomore Gabby Grantham-Medley capped the period with a three-point play.

- The second quarter featured red-hot shooting from both sides, with each team connecting on better than 50 percent from the field. Midway through the frame, the teams traded four consecutive baskets before sophomore Maja Rohkohl pushed the Dukes' advantage to 29-20 with 4:17 left in the half.

-  Duquesne maintained its momentum, closing the quarter on a 13-4 run fueled by Grantham-Medley. She ignited the stretch with a four-point play, and after a Ramblers response, junior Reina Green added a turnaround jumper while Bordas knocked down two free throws.

- Grantham-Medley then hit a pair at the chalk before burying a top-of-the-key three-pointer as time expired to send the Dukes into halftime with a commanding 42-24 lead.

- Duquesne extends its winning streak to five straight against Loyola Chicago in the all-time series … The Ramblers had three finish in double figures led by Alex-Anne Bessette, with 14 points, three blocks, and three steals. Alexus Mobley ended with 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals while Alexa Kinas recorded 11 points seven rebounds, and three steals.

- Loyola netted 25 points off 27 Duquesne turnovers … The Ramblers won the battle of points in the paint, 34-22 … Duquesne has hit double figure triples for the third consecutive game (10) and for the seventh time this season … There was four lead changes and two ties

The Series vs. Fordham – Saturday afternoon will mark the 39th meeting between the Dukes and Rams and the 17th matchup in the Bronx. Duquesne holds a 24-14 record in the all-time series as it captured a 79-63 victory in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championships last season. Duquesne delivered one of its strongest defensive performances of the season, limiting Fordham to single-digit scoring in two quarters. The Dukes stifled the Rams' offense early, holding them to just 15.0 percent shooting (3-of-20) in the opening quarter. Their defensive dominance continued in the second half, as Fordham managed only seven points on 2-of-12 shooting (16.7 percent) to start the third quarter. It was a slow start after halftime, with both teams struggling offensively, combining for just one made field goal in the first nine attempts. However, following the media timeout, Duquesne found its rhythm, stringing together eight straight points to extend the lead to 56-28. McConnell and freshman Mackenzie Blackford each contributed three points during the run, while Kiaku added a layup. The teams then traded the next 10 points before Duquesne closed the quarter with a commanding 64-35 lead. The Dukes' defensive pressure remained relentless throughout the game, holding Fordham to just 31.9 percent shooting (23-of-72) from the field and 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from beyond the arc while forcing 12 turnovers.

Scouting The Rams – Located in the Bronx, N.Y., Fordham enters Saturday with a 10-15 overall record and a 2-12 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams most recently snapped a six-game losing streak with a 42-39 victory over Saint Louis in Missouri. Fordham is led by Alexis Black, who averages 17.7 points per game to go along with 3.5 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.9 steals. She is shooting better than 37.0 percent from the field and an efficient 88.0 percent from the free-throw line. Carryn Easley adds 6.4 points per game while averaging just under three assists and two steals per contest. Emma Wilson-Saltos paces the Rams on the glass, contributing 5.7 rebounds per game while adding 6.0 points. As a team, Fordham leads the Atlantic 10 in offensive rebounding and ranks 15th nationally in NCAA Division I with just under 16 offensive boards per game. The Rams average nearly 40 rebounds per contest, good for third in the conference. Defensively, they force 19.4 turnovers per game, the second-best in the A-10 and record 9.8 steals per contest, which ranks third in the league.

Loyola Chicago Remains - Loyola Chicago (12-12|8-5 A-10) came out aggressive to start the second half, opening on a 10-3 run. The Ramblers hit five of their first eight shots and forced five Duquesne turnovers in the opening four minutes to cut the deficit to 45-34. Bordas helped steady the Dukes with a three-pointer that ignited a seven-point spurt, extending the lead to 52-36 heading into the final quarter. Duquesne pushed its advantage to its largest of the afternoon when Grantham-Medley converted a driving layup to make it 63-41. Loyola continued to battle, however, putting together an 11-2 run in the final minute of play. The Dukes were stifling defensively in the second half, forcing nine of Loyola's 17 turnovers over the final 20 minutes. Duquesne held the Ramblers to 36.7 percent (11-of-30) shooting from the field and 0-of-9 from three-point range after halftime. The Dukes also controlled the glass, winning the rebounding battle 36-26, while adding five steals and four blocks on the afternoon.

Double Trouble – For the first time in her career, junior guard Reina Green recorded a double-double in the victory over the Ramblers, finishing with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds while going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. The performance marked her eighth double-figure scoring effort of the season and the third time she has led the Dukes in rebounding. Over the last six games, the Florida native ranks third on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game and second in rebounding at 6.2 boards per contest. She is shooting better than 34.0 percent from the field and has been efficient at the free-throw line, converting 20-of-24 attempts (83.3 percent). During that stretch, Green has posted three double-digit scoring performances, including a career-high 14 points with three rebounds against Dayton (Jan. 21), followed by 10 points and four rebounds at Richmond (Jan. 28). For the season, Green is averaging 7.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting over 36 percent from the field.

Lefty Legend – Freshman guard Alexis Bordas has firmly established herself as the Dukes most consistent scoring threat this season. She is coming off her 20th double-figure scoring performance, netting 19 points on 53.8 percent shooting (7-of-13), knocking down three three-pointers and adding three rebounds. It marked the 12th time she has led the Dukes in scoring, her 14th game with at least three made triples, and the third straight contest with three or more from beyond the arc. The West Virginia native currently ranks fifth in the conference at just under 16.0 points per game and has emerged as one of the premier three-point shooters in the country. She sits sixth in NCAA Division I with 3.0 made threes per game, while her 74 total three-pointers rank 11th nationally. Among the 153 Division I players averaging more than two made three-pointers per game (excluding the Big East, Mountain West, and WAC due to unavailable interactive stats), only 10 are freshmen, eight of whom are true freshmen. Over the last three games, Bordas has been on a tear, averaging 22.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals while shooting 39.0 percent from the field (21-of-54) and 36.1 percent from three-point range (13-of-36). She recorded back-to-back 20-point performances during that stretch and went an impressive 11-of-12 (91.7 percent) from the free-throw line.

Bullseye 🎯 After a slow start to the new year, sophomore guard Mackenzie Blackford has become one of Duquesne's most consistent offensive threats in recent weeks. Over her last three games, she is averaging 20.0 points, 2.0 steals, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting a blistering 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from three-point range and 47.7 percent (21-of-44) from the field. Blackford is coming off her third straight double-figure performance, scoring 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor and 5-of-10 (50.0 percent) from beyond the arc. The outing marked her ninth game in double figures this season and the third time she has knocked down five three-pointers - doing so in back-to-back games. The Ohio native has been one of the team's most reliable shooters over the last seven contests, connecting on 48.6 percent (34-of-70) of her field-goal attempts and an impressive 52.0 percent (26-of-50) from long range. For the season, the sophomore guard ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game while adding 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest. Blackford has knocked down the fourth-most three-pointers in the conference (57) and ranks fifth in the league with 2.4 made threes per game.

Dropping Dimes – Redshirt sophomore guard Gabby Grantham-Medley has been a steady presence in facilitating for her teammates this season. She is coming off a career-high six assists and was one of four Dukes to finish in double figures against the Ramblers, scoring 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Grantham-Medley has led the Dukes in assists on seven occasions and has reached double figures in scoring eight times this season. The Maryland native has recorded three or more assists in eight games and leads the team with just under two per contest. On the year, she ranks third on the team in scoring at 7.4 points per game while adding 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per contest, shooting better than 36.0 percent from the field.
